Week 23

Hi,

At last! I have finished . I found it very challenging and learnt lots of new things with Web 2.0. Now I can relax and enjoy Cappucinno.

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenber is a free ebook site. The link to the site is here
eBooks have many features that traditional paper books may be missing:

• You can search through the text for a specific word or phrase
• You can carry eBooks with you on your PDA or smartphone device
• You can shrink or enlarge the text size
• You can add digital bookmarks
• You get instantaneous delivery
• You help the environment by not using paper or requiring packaging
  

What's amazing about Project Gutenber it was set up by volunteers.

Podcast

The word “podcasting” is combining the words “broadcasting” and “iPod.” The most popular format of a podcast is MP3. When I first heard of podcasting I didn’t understand what made it different from simply searching and then downloading a music file and listening. One of the most common podcast subscribing tools is iTunes.

YouTube

I liked the concept of YouTube where you can upload your movies, pictures or any crazy thing. The downside is that life is no longer private. Ofcourse, Gen Y love it. Their popularity is judged by how many hits to their posting. YouTube is very helpful for product guides you could say it is a virtual product launch

These sites employ search capabilities, allow to share data with other users, and most importantly, help me stay organized and informed.

I seem to be learning daily. Don't know where this is leading. It is like walking in the dark. Oh nice to discover something new.

Hennepin County Library

I have visited Hennepin County Library facebook. It is a good site that allows people to chat with librarian, search catalog, register as a fan, and also post something on "wall".
I am conservative in having such networking.

Social Networking

Bebo, My Space and Face book I am not very much happy with it as one has to have an account ot view profile and I believe in privacy. I would not like people accessing my personal details.For social networking my friends can keep in touch via emails.

Library 2.0 & Web 2.0

I have read all the 5 perspectives but very much impressed by Chip Nilges and Michael Stephens perspective and looking forward Libraries with Web 2.0

Libraries can use Wiki to order more books and magazines for pet owners.
But one thing I didn't like was anyone could edit any page.

Flickr Mashups

I have done Flickr mashups and created trading card . I found bit tricky but managed.

Technology

I like new technology of Digital Cameras and Cellphone cameras. You can click pictures and share it with friends. USB is also interesting as it is handy to carry and can save more information. Also GPS talks to you showing you the route.

ROLLYO

This was cool as it helps to go straight on the website , saves time.

It was fun to create this image and I used ImageChef website.

Library Thing

Hi all,

Meet my Lucky where he and his owner are lucky. He is 4yrs 5months old. He is Fox terrier x Jack Russell. He likes to play and chase ball and birds.He loves me a lot . He is very happy to see me when I come home from work and shows his love by wagging his tail and kissing me. He likes Veggies e.g carrot, broccoli, cauliflower . Isn't' he my cutie!!

Hi this is the first time and trying to work on it. I am sure this will give me opportunity to learn something new and also have fun and share the topics and news and views.
I am still in learning process and trying to figure out how to go ahead .
